Looks like VMware recently released a new benchmark tool which might help provide more quantitive comparison between server configurations. One of the first is a (very brief) comparison of dual-core versus quad-core by both VMware and Dell. Although we (as SA's) may not use this tool directly it may be of use to clients and partners - and should certainly be useful to be aware of when researching performance capabilities in a virtual environment - especially until the SPECmark is released.
Hopefully, HP will start publishing VMmark scores like Dell do (or maybe they'll make it into Attenda design guides!)
